Happy Easter!
stock story (if you have the time):
I heard a sad rumour the other day which involved the feeble future of the Air Canada hangar on Lulu Island. Seeing as the monolith endured four name changes (CP Air, Canadian Airlines, Canadian Airlines (updated logo), Air Canada) during my lifetime, I guess its future was never stable. But the nostalgic place it has in my life makes the rumour difficult to accept and seemingly similar to swallowing a grape whole. You see, my father spent his career in that hangar and I am sure that one can relate that their father's place of work has a significant impact on their lives. Some fathers are pastors and their children experience the stress of moving from city to city. Some fathers are teachers and come home with assignments to mark but celebrate with their children when summer vacation approaches. My father enabled giant mechanical beasts to fly in the air and his children were able to see far off places and meet foreign faces. I remember when no relative was allowed to visit our family without a proper tour of The Hangar. I remember exploring gutted airplanes and seeing the gaping wirey insides and realizing how similar it looked like the inside of the Millennium Falcon. I remember the acrid smells, the cloud-high ceilings, the gritty soap, and maze-like hallways. The Hangar also served as a launch pad for family vacations as we would take the company bus (driven by the sweet-smelling pipe-smoking wrinkly bus driver) to get a ride to the airport. You will be missed O' Hangar.

Interview in Menno-land? Cool! How'd it go?
quite well, I do declair.
I haven't heard anything from that other term position. I guess they're too scared of hiring someone so awesome. (ME!...if you didn't get the sad attempt of boosting my withering self-esteem) Actually, to be honest, if I don't get the job...then the job was not for me. God is in full control of these situations, and I know that he'll hook a brotha up when something suited for me comes along.
I am just glad that Dad got out when he did. Could you imagine the "joy" he'd be feeling at this point if he was still working there?
CONGRATS on the retiring of your shovel!!!! I still need to use mine a couple more times this year (a paper and a couple of exams) and then all of next year. I just hope it doesn't wear away to nothing!
Happy Easter fella!
Shawn
Happy Easter from Uncle Irwin! He left a message on our answering machine. Julie had called to wish him a happy Easter so I guess we get to be the bearers of his greetings as well! :)
That would be Uncle Erwin! I must be drunk.
D'oh!
how come i've never had a tour of this alleged "hangar" you speak of?
